Voters need to know that Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been a career politician in Washington for more than 20 years — and has used her office to enrich herself. She was caught violating federal stock disclosure law four times and bought stock in an industry she helped oversee. And she is the payday lending industry's most reliable ally in Congress — taking over $68,000 from payday lenders who charge 304% interest and target Black neighborhoods, earning the nickname "Debt Trap Debbie" for backing what the NAACP calls "modern-day redlining." In 2011, she also advocated for a proposed ICE detention facility to be built in Broward County.
Voters need to know that Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick was federally indicted and found by the House Ethics Committee to have committed wrongdoing — for funneling millions in federal COVID/FEMA funds into her own campaign. She is the textbook example of the corruption voters are sick of.
Voters need to know that Dale Holness is a decades-long Broward County political insider, dogged by corruption and self-dealing, who is part of the same broken machine that has failed South Florida families. His own daughter — who served as his campaign treasurer — pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges after prosecutors identified her father's campaign account as the source of funds she diverted for personal expenses, with some of that money flowing directly to the rent on Dale Holness's own real estate business. Holness’s other daughter served 20 months in federal prison for a $300,000 PPP fraud whose shell corporation, Holness Consulting Inc., was registered at the same address as Dale Holness's own real estate office. Omar Smith, the political operative who has run Holness's campaigns for more than a decade, has separately pleaded guilty to PPP fraud committed at that same office.
